I have become successful by fitting the hat to the lady.
I have a Hat style for every head and every occasion!
Some guidelines I use:
YOUR FACE SHAPE
Round or Square Face
YES: straight brim, large brim, low crown, fedora
NO: deep/rolled short brims, too small hat size
Long Face
YES: flat crown gambler/Western, low crown, flat wide brim
NO: high crown hats; rolled brim hats close to the face
Oval Face
Anything Goes!
YOUR BODY SHAPE
A hat should be no wider than the width of your shoulders. Broad shoulders...wide brim hat; narrow shoulders...shorter brim hat.
A tall or larger lady can wear a lot of hat. A petite lady will find a smaller/lower crown hat more flattering. This refers to the overall size of the hat not just the inside diameter. I specialize in fitting ladies at either extreme of the scale: Extra small to XL head sizes and tall to petite women. You are welcome to send me your picture along with the picture of your outfit. The type of event can also influence the size of brim you wear.
